The Last Hoorah

In Meeting Info on April 2, 2011 at 1:33 pm

Dear Haliburtoneers,

It’s hard to believe, but we’re approaching the end of the year, and that means that it’s time to have the final Haliburton meeting of the 2010/2011 school year. The final meeting will be Tuesday, April 5, at 7:30 PM in the Senior Common Room. Our final meeting will NOT have a theme, so bring whatever you’d like to read – one of your favorite pieces of literature, something bittersweet, something funny… ANYTHING you’d like to read, the theme is up to YOU.

Our last meeting will also serve as our Annual General Meeting, during which we will discuss and dissect what the society did this year. If you have any suggestions as to what we should do, or would like to be part of our growing executive, please come out!

Wine and cheese will be served, as usual.

A Night of Romance

In Meeting Info on February 11, 2011 at 3:49 pm

Hello Haliburtoneers!

Thank you for making Shakespeare Night such a resounding success! We had a great turnout and it was an enjoyable evening, even if very few people read passages spoken by women and we seemed to have a plethora of Romans and Villains speaking. Thank you for making the first event of 2011 a great one!

Next Week, we are pleased to announce that we shall be having A Night of Romance (see title)! What does “romantic” mean to you? Do you like romantic things, or Romantic things? Can you speak a Romance Language, or perhaps a language of romance? I could make very bad wordplay all day, but I shall spare you. We are celebrating Romantic (and romantic) literature, art, and music at our next event!

It shall be WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 16, at 7:30 PM in the SENIOR COMMON ROOM. As an additional incentive to  get you to show up, Dr. Jannette Vusich AND Dr. Cory Stockwell will be there to kick off the evening by giving their takes on R/r -omantic things. Bring all your friends, this is not an event you want to miss.

Your president promises you wine, bread, cheese, and special treats if you do show up, and if you remember the Aphrodisiac Squares, you know she is serious.
